Santa Barbara Public High Schools
Santa Barbara is a wonderful place to grow up–just ask Ian Filippini! Not only is Santa Barbara a beautiful city full of culture and fun attractions, it has wonderful high schools for students to attend. In Santa Barbara, there are three major area high schools that students can attend, depending on which area of Santa Barbara that they live.
Santa Barbara High School
Santa Barbara High School (sbhs.sbunified.org) is located at 700 East Anapamu Street, Santa Barbara, CA 93103 and they can be reached by phone at (805) 966-9101, by fax at (805) 965-6872, or by email at jbecchio@sbunified.org. Santa Barbara High School is the third oldest high school in Santa Barbara and is the home of the Dons. Santa Barbara High School is a California Distinguished high school and is also accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. They have a wide range of “regular” courses, but also specialize in classes for Multimedia Arts and Design, Visual Arts and Design and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math Academy. San Marcos High School
San Marcos High School is another Santa Barbara area high school and is located at 4750 Hollister Avenue, Santa Barbara, CA 93110. One of the great things about San Marcos High School is that over 80% of their graduating students go on to higher education–that’s a huge accomplishment! An interesting thing about this school is that they follow a block schedule instead of a traditional schedule. And of course, like many of the area schools, they take great pride in their sports teams, and their colors are blue and red! Dos Pueblos High School
Dos Pueblos High School is for students in all of southern Santa Barbara County. Their mascot is the Chargers and they love their blue and gold! Dos Pueblos is most known for their wide range of advanced placement, or AP, classes. They also have a wonderful special education program that serves many Santa Barbara students. Santa Barbara is truly lucky to have Dos Pueblos as one of their choices for high school.
As you can see, Santa Barbara has three great options for students in grades 9-12 to attend high school, and Ian Filippini agrees! Though Mr. Filippini does not yet have children, he is confident that when he does, they will be attending a wonderful high school, no matter which school it is, although it must be pointed out that the high school that a student attends depends on where they live in Santa Barbara or Goleta.
